Friday - Bogus Mary Kay Reps

ninanevermoreIt's a lovely day today, clear and warm and a great day to be a high-school kid with no other agenda than to sit by the pool and be a kid.
Sadly for me, I'm a 30-something woman with a job (Career? Hardly.) and a mortgage and a car payment, so I found myself back at the stoplight this morning, anticipating the bizarre. Boy, was I not disappointed.
I found myself surrounded by Pink Cadillacs, driven drag queens trying to pass for Mary Kay representatives. I thought, "This is not something you see everyday in a small town…"
There were a couple of giveaways that these were not real Mary Kay reps. For one, it's been a few years since I've seen a pink Cadillac on the road, so I don't think the company is handing them out any more. Second, these guys were obviously wearing cheap, crappy makeup and not Mary Kay Cosmetics, which are a bit pricey. Their lipsticks bled, their mascara ran and their rouge was flaky and did not suit their skin tones.
I don't know who they were trying to fool, but it wasn't working.
When the light turned, they all pulled over in front of the Carney and wobbled toward him in their enormous pink pumps. I had to get to work, so I have no idea what happened after that.
