I couldn't help but notice at the stoplight this morning that everyone around me was invisible.

How, then, you may ask, did I know that they were even around me if they were all invisible? Maybe the invisibility was more perceived than literal. But everyone, wrapped in the security of a own vehicle, may as well have been invisible. They acted as if they were in little rooms by themselves, and that there are not windows in their cars that allow everyone else to see what they are up to. And so, they are, in their own minds at least, invisible. Every last one of them - the phone talker, the nose picker, the primper, the pimple picker, the radio-sing-a-long guy, the steering wheel tapper - was oblivious to everyone in all of the other cars, and considered him or herself to be outside of everyone else's range of vision.

Since I, too, was invisible, I stuck at my tongue at them all. What harm could it do? It's not like they could see me, even if they happened to glance in my direction.
