Tuesday - Dead and Driving
May. 31st, 2005 10:23 amToday, idling at the stoplight, I noticed that I was next to a very fancy, expensive sports car that costs more than I make in a year. The woman inside of it looked like a mannequin, either because the surgeon had made her face too tight and it hurt to make expressions, or because the Botox had her face paralyzed and she couldn't make expressions.
The only part of her face that showed expression were her eyes, and they were terrified. I think she feared looking old rather than growing old and dying. To hell with the Grim Reaper (I noticed the Carney sizing her up out of the corner of his eye; I think he likes that she has smoked for 30 years to avoid gaining weight, and that makes her okay in his book), it's Father Time she fears the most. Father time is so very wrinkled and gray, and that's just icky.
Curiouser and curiouser.
What's the point of looking young, if you happen to look like a younger, dead version of yourself? Wouldn't an older live version be better?
