On the drive into work today, I tripped into a daydream and didn't climb out of it until I sat down at my desk.

I am this millennium's female Walter Mitty. In my mind I am constantly engaged in adventure, sex, intrigue, sex, heroics, sex, scandal, sex, glory, sex, wealth, sex, fame and, from time to time, sex.

In real life, let's just say that there is little or none of this going on. Well, occasionally I might get sex, but it's sad to say how seldom that is. Children are the best form of birth control ever. How did my parents have time to make four of us? I'm exhausted with just one. Not to mention sexually frustrated.

I think I'll climb back into my mind now, where at least I can get sex on a regular basis. I don't have to wait until the baby is asleep there in the warm dark recesses of my imagination...

I love the movie. Danny Kaye rocks! Of course, I hear the book is down-right depressing.

Same goes for "The Natural" -- Redford took a miserable story (the hero is scandalized and breaks down in front of his young fans at the end) and turned it into an Anthem celebrating the American Pass-time! Baseball shouldn't be depressing. The only people I know who liked the book, were born overseas. Danged Ferinners!

I read the short story, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" in high school. It was more funny than anything else. That is, it was funny before I BECAME him.
