From what I've read, Samhain, which the Catholic church replaced with All Saints Day and All Souls Day, was basically the Celtic New Year celebration. In that light, it's no more evil than The Chinese New Year or the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. In a multi-faith, multi-cultural society, I think most causes for celebration are good ones. Bring on the candy! ^_^
