Today on my drive into work, I was thinking about the fact that I am working a short day today and won't have time to make a long post. It's Christmas Eve Observed in my office, and only my cohort, Melanie, and me are in because we took the day after Thanksgiving off. My company gives you a floating holiday that you can either use for the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, or for Christmas Eve. The two guys I work took their floating holidays back in November, so the girls are ruling the roost today. This is nice, because it means I can curse like a sailor (or rather, curse like a pirate, according to my husband) and not worry about offending the tender ears of Joe and Matt, who's ears are painfully scorched by such rough language.

In my office, the guys are the sweet sensitive ones and the girls are the lascivious, foul-mouthed ones who have to be kept in line. It was like this when I worked with the Cajun Queen, too. When Melanie came in to take the Queens place, I immensely relieved the first time she let loose a 4-letter word. Matt and Joe are so respectable and nice that they make me feel bad about myself, so I needed another incorrigible woman to make me feel better.

I go home in less than an hour, and I don't plan on being back on line until Tuesday (we don't have Boxing Day here in the US, though I like the idea of it). It's embarrassing to admit, but I have dial-up at home, and getting on the Internet is easiest described as painful from my humble abode. Therefore, I'm not going to stress myself out by even trying. I hope some of you miss me at least a little, but if you don't that's fine.

Until then, whatever you celebrate, I hope it's happy. I hope your Solstice was Blessed, your Hanukkah was (and is) Joyful, and your Christmas is Merry. If you celebrate Kwanzaa, you still have a few days to go but I'll jump the gun and hope it's wonderful. If you like your family, I hope you get to (or got to) spend this time with them. If you don't like your family, I hope you managed to avoid seeing those rotten people and that they don't call you and put you in a foul mood on what should be a nice occasion.

When I get back to work next week, I'll be thinking about things on my drive in. In the meanwhile, everyone take care.
