Monday - The Pine Tree
Jul. 11th, 2005 12:16 pmNow the Grim Reaper has really done it. I can live with the fact that he has taken every blade of grass in my front yard. He actually saved me trouble and money on that account, because a dead lawn needs no maintenance.
But now he has taken the pine tree smack-dab in the middle of my front yard. That is going to cost me a couple of hundred bucks in "tree funeral" expenses, to have someone come and cut down the rotting corpse standing in my yard. No, the Grim Reaper and I are no longer on speaking terms. This is too much.
The local woodpeckers have asked me to hold off, because they are enjoying the free buffet that the tree now provides for them. At the rate they are going at it, they will take down the tree themselves within a couple of weeks.
The upside: firewood for the winter. The downside: this is Houston, how often do I need firewood in the winter?
