My husband is astounded at the things I can sleep through. Train whistles, low flying plains, honking car horns, wailing sirens, blaring television sets, and all other things that rudely drag most people from a sound slumber have no effect on me. A tornado has passed right outside my bedroom window and failed to rouse me, though the rest of the house said it sounded like a freight train. This last September, my husband stayed awake while Hurricane Ike blew over our house, listening to banshee-like winds and crashing trees, including one that landed on our house. I, on the other hand, slept unaware through the whole thing and woke annoyed that I missed all the excitement.

To say I am a sound sleeper is an understatement. For all I know, my sex life is way better than I think it is and I may be, despite my not being aware of it, scoring on a regular basis (Jeff swears this isn't true, and claims it would be too much like necrophilia for his liking).

Which is why I am amazed that the one thing that can rouse me without fail is a small voice urgently whispering, "Mommy, I need to go potty."

It wakes me up every time.
