Wednesday – Christmas Eve in the Office
.
.
.
I came to work this Christmas Eve, when everyone else seems to have taken the day off. I'm taking all the days between Christmas and New Year's Day off, but Christmas Eve seems like a waste of vacation time when you take into account that we get early dismissal, anyhow.
The 8th floor was completely dark when I got off the elevator at 8:30. I had to find where the light switches are. I made a pot of coffee, and because I hate waste I will have to drink the whole thing and thus should be wide awake should I decide to take in a Christmas Eve church service tonight. Since I have a 40 mile drive home, it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a pit stop at the Lady's Room before I leave this afternoon, after drinking all that coffee. Still, I'm up to the task. There aren't a lot of things I can do well, but I make a damn good pot of coffee, to the point that I won't drink from a pot made by anyone else (other people on my floor always put too many of too few grinds in the basket, and can't be trusted).
My Christmas cards were mailed out on Monday, and should arrive in everyone's mailboxes on or around New Year's Day. They may be "late" as far as you all are concerned, but I'm very impressed that they will be postmarked before Christmas, which makes them "on time" in my book.
Michaele, your card will be postmarked today, but only because you just put yourself on the list yesterday. I hope you enjoy this years "no news is good news" newsletter as much as you did last year's. I still have cards (and newsletters) left, if anyone else still wants one and you don't mind a December 26th postmark on the envelope. Click on my Christmas Cards tag to find my address collection entry.
To all who sent me a card, I'll give your linky-love props from home from home in the next few days, as I don't have the info here at the office with me. Still, even though I'm too lazy to link at the moment, I'd still like to note the following: To the person who replaced Zuzu Bailey's head with a picture of your cat's head (and you know who you are), your card freaked me out a little. A., thanks for the photo, your son is adorable! M., I got two cards from you this year, and I liked them both. The more the merrier, and if you want to send 3 next year, that's fine by me. D., the cards you print with your artwork on them are always a delight and I look forward to them every year (okay, so it's only been a couple of years now, but they've made their mark). There are many other wonderful cards that came my way this year, but I'll have to get to them later.
I'll close by wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Joyful New Year. To those of you having a Hard Candy Christmas this year (and there are quite a few of you, with the world economy being in the tank the way it is), may you at least find the hard candy sweet, and I hope you get chocolate, or maybe a Wii, next year. Times being uncertain, I hope we all do, come to think of it.
In the words of Tiny Tim, God bless us everyone one, and all of you in particular.
