Tueday - Start of a Tradition

Today on my drive into work, I was thinking about how Saturday was Jeff's and mine 6th wedding anniversary (we married after dating for only 11 years - you don't want to rush into something like that). I've always been lousy at remembering dates, so having an anniversary of 09-09 makes it easy. The fact that we married in 2000 helps me keep track of which anniversary we are on. Our first was in '01, our second in '02, and so on. As long as I know what year it is, I can figure out which anniversary we are celebrating.

"It's six," I told Jeff.

"Really? Already?"

"Really."

"Do you know what I'm supposed to give you? Traditionally, I mean."

I hated to admit that I didn't know, so I said the first thing that came to mind.

"Oral sex."

"Wow. Is that the traditional gift?"

"Yes. Going back to the dawn of time. You can look it up if you don't believe me."

And here he might have been worried that it was going to be something expensive. I now know that iron or candy is the traditional gift, and while neither of them is especially pricey, I like my idea better and think it's much more affordable. It is, after all, a gift from the heart.

I think it can be a new tradition; they all have to start somewhere.

I think I'll let my wife honor this as a yearly tradition. :)

It doesn't get you completely off the hook. She's still going to want a card to go with it!

Oh no no, she's going to give that to ME.

I'll probably get her an E-card or something.

No, you didn't read the entry right. It's male to femail; I'm starting the tradition, I get to write the rules. Didn't your mom teach you anything? It's better to give than to receive.

That's right, start giving and I'll tell you when to stop :P

You'll do what you're told. Don't make me get out my whip...

I don't take the beatings, I give the beatings.

Turn about is fair play, my friend. ;)
